Kovdor to Oldoinyo Lengai—The missing link in carbonatitic magma evolution

چکیده
Abstract Experiments were conducted to test the hypothesis that interaction of a carbonatitic magma with quartz-rich rocks plays key role in shaping carbonatite complexes. The host represented by quartz, and was synthetic mixtures CaCO3, MgCO3, Na2CO3. With increasing distance from reaction between carbonate liquid quartz produced domain Na(Ca)-rich silicate glass, metasomatic wollastonite, diopside, forsterite, carbonate-rich domain. This zonation reproduces observed many complexes, e.g., Kovdor, Russia. experiments provide strong evidence magma/host-rock controls evolution complexes explains how Mg-Ca-carbonatitic magmas mantle can evolve produce natrocarbonatites associated alkaline at Oldoinyo Lengai, Tanzania.

The Missing Link in Star Cluster Evolution
The currently most popular models for the dynamical evolution of star clusters predict that the power-law Cluster Luminosity Functions (CLFs) of young star cluster systems will be transformed rapidly into the universal Gaussian CLFs of old Milky Way-type “globular” cluster systems. Here, we provide the first evidence for a turn-over in the intermediate-age, approximately 1 Gyr-old CLF in the ce...
متن کاملEvolution: oskar Reveals Missing Link in Co-optive Evolution
The oskar gene is critical for germ plasm formation and reproduction in higher insects. A recent study reports that oskar has more ancient roots than previously thought, indicating it was co-opted for its reproductive role in higher insects.
متن کاملEvolution of gap junctions: the missing link?
Connexin molecules form gap-junction channels in vertebrates and there are at least 20 of them in humans [1]. Intuitively, one would imagine that cardinal features of the cellular machinery, such as gap-junctions, would be highly conserved. Paradoxically, however, Drosophila and Caenorhabditis elegans do not have connexin genes, but instead use innexins for gap-junctional communication, a prote...
متن کامل“vitality” a missing link in adjustment to childhood cancer
background: a number of randomized trial studies and longitudinal researches emphasize that despite problems in social adjustment and cognitive damages, children with cancer demonstrate good emotional adjustment. methods: most of the research findings in this area are obtained using objective tools such as questionnaires. “vitality of children”, as a drawing tool, was used as a basis to draw a ...
